Traditions Behind Our Vibrant Attire

Beyond their aesthetic allure, these costumes are a fundamental part of our cultural identity as an ensemble. They serve as a visual manifestation of the ancestral traditions that have been passed down for generations, infusing our performances with a profound sense of authenticity and pride. When our audience sees us adorned in these vibrant, meaningful attires, they are invited to step into the heart of Africa and experience the enduring power of its diverse artistic expressions.

Types of costumes

The wardrobe of our African drumming and dance ensemble is as diverse as the continent itself. From the intricate beadwork and striking patterns of our Maasai-inspired garments to the vivid, flowing fabrics of our Kente-style costumes, each piece of traditional attire represents the rich cultural tapestry of Africa.

Regardless of their specific origin, these costumes share a common thread – they are all deeply rooted in the ancestral artistry and storytelling of the African continent.

The tribes

The elaborate beadwork and striking patterns of our Maasai-inspired costumes, for example, pay homage to the vibrant, color-rich aesthetic of this iconic East African community. Meanwhile, the vivid, flowing fabrics and intricate Kente weaving of our West African-style garments showcase the rich textile heritage of the Akan peoples, whose mastery of this age-old craft has become renowned worldwide.
